Pie into it!

An interactive, step-by-step guide for how to make a homemade pumpkin pie, without any written instructions. Steps for making the pie are conveyed through icons, minimal typography, and illustrations. The instructions are stored in a hand crafted paper box which mimics the appearance of an actual pie.

The process

The beginning moments of this project consisted of me actually baking a pumpkin pie and then sketching out the order of the steps for making the pie. I then continued messing around with the style and look of the icons as well as the layout. After completing the final look of my icons the next step was to figure out how would I turn this into a unique looking book. That is when I came to the idea of making the book mimic a pie box. What proceeded was a lot of trial and errors of making the box out of hand.
